Don't have a pass yet? Get one now

September 24 – October 4, 2020 / Toronto, Ontario

Why 42?

‘Cause there are 42 amazing shows and other cool comedy things that we’ve selected (with your help!) for you to experience. Now it’s up to you to choose what you want to see.

What’s a credit?

Once you activate your pass, your credits will appear, like magic! Use these to reserve a seat for the other 42 comedians and any of the ComedyCon shows. One credit = one guaranteed reservation for a show.

What’s a Special Event?

NEW THIS YEAR: Special Events are super awesome shows that are TICKET ONLY and cannot be combined with a pass. Check out the Special Events tab on the Artist page for more details.

I want to see two of the headliner shows. Can I buy two 1-headliner passes at the same time for different shows?

Nope, unfortunately that won’t work. Each person can only access ONE pass per user account. You can purchase more than one pass at a time, but you must transfer the additional passes to other people. But if you want more comedy you can always add an additional headliner or credit to your pass! You can do so at a discounted price AFTER you have purchased your pass. *Please note this discount does not apply to the Special Headliner Event – Carol Burnett: An Evening of Laughter and Reflection*

If I get a ‘Just the 42’ pass with 2 credits can I reserve one spot for me and one for a friend?

Each person must have their own pass if they want to see a show at JFL42. You can only use your credits to reserve spots for yourself at any given show – no sharing credits between buddies, spouses or family members.

I just purchased my pass but don’t know how to log in to my JFL42 account!

You should receive an activation email shortly after purchasing with instructions on how to set up and register your pass. This email can sometimes take up to a few hours before reaching your inbox. Don’t worry — it will be arriving shortly!

PS: Please check your junk/spam folder as it may have been sent there by mistake.

What is ComedyCon?

ComedyCon is JFL42’s daytime series and it’s about to be your favorite new thing! ComedyCon offers exclusive access to see some of your favorite comedy stars up close and personal. It’s got In Conversation events with some of your favorite comedians, Q&A’s, Cast Panels, Live Podcasts and way more…all in an intimate venue. You have access to these shows with ANY of the JFL42 passes. Just use your credit to secure your seat, up close and personal!

How can I see the lineup for ComedyCon?

Check out the ComedyCon lineup by clicking the ComedyCon Events tab at the top of the Homepage! It will show you everyone who’s participating in the ComedyCon events. You’ll also know which shows are part of this series because you’ll see a ‘sun’ icon next to it when you go to reserve your seat.

When can I start reserving shows?

Right now! Well… as soon as you activate your pass. Just login to, find the show you want to see and click on the ‘Reserve Now’ button.

How long are the shows?

Most 42 shows and ComedyCon events run approx. 60 mins. Headliner shows are around 80 – 90 mins.

How do I get my pass once I’ve purchased it?

Patience, young grasshopper. After your purchase has been processed through Ticketmaster, you’ll receive an email within 24hrs with your activation link.

I bought my pass, where is it?!

If you haven’t received an email from JFL42 containing your activation link within 24hrs, check your junk mail or email

Are these passes refundable?

Unfortunately we do not do refunds on passes, however they are completely transferable. If you find someone else who wants to go in your place, you can use Ticketmaster’s ticket transfer system to send them the passes to their name so that they can attend the festival instead of you.

How does my pass work?

Just like you, every pass is unique. After you complete your purchase, you will receive an email containing a super special link to activate your pass on Once you register, the pass will be yours and yours alone. Your credits will appear and you can start reserving immediately. Once you arrive at the show you reserved, pull up your reservation on the APP have your barcode scanned at the door. Just like that — you’re in! Don’t forget when you get scanned into a show, you get your credit back and use it to reserve to another great show. Basically, your pass/smart phone is scanned at entry of each venue so make sure you take it with you wherever you go! (As if you don’t already take your phone everywhere!)

Is it mandatory to have a Facebook account?

No BUT logging in through Facebook will give you the full interactive experience of JFL42.

Are all shows 19+?

Unfortunately some of our venues are bars and are 19+, like Garrison and Rivoli. BUT all our other venues are teenage friendly if you have an adult accompanying you which means you won’t be missing out on too many shows! Just know that some of the content is R rated so if you are a parent please look into the act before you go with your kids, but you were going to do that anyway right?

What if the event is full?

JFL42 is your chance to speak up. Never before has your voice counted for so much! If an event has reached capacity you can “petition” to have a show added. When enough people band together and add the show to their ‘wishlist’, we might just be able to add another show! Remember, be quick and reserve as soon as it’s been added!

What is my ‘wishlist’ and why is it so important?

If the artist you want to see has no more seats available to any of their shows, the ‘add to wishlist’ button will appear. This is the moment where YOU get involved in the process of shaping the festival. It’s important that you tell us what you want—we’re not mind readers. By clicking on the ‘add to wishlist’ button, you’re telling us (and our group of cyber algorithm monkeys) that you definitely want to go see a show. Based on the demand for each act, we may move that show to a bigger venue. If enough people wishlist to an act, we might even ADD ANOTHER SHOW!

I’ve already added shows to my ‘wishlist’, now what?

Keep an eye out on social media for up-to-date news on any new shows added. You’ll also receive a heads-up email from us when that show becomes reserve-able. Quickly, go to the act you want to see and hit ‘reserve now’. The show will then be removed off your wishlist, because…well — your wish just came true!

How do I reserve a spot to these awesome shows?!

The first rule of JFL42 is always talk about JFL42. The second is act quickly! When you find a show/event you want to attend, click on the ‘reserve now’ button and one of your credits will be deducted to save you a spot. Keep your ears and eyes peeled for festival updates and emails so that you can be the first to reserve your spots at venues and make sure you get to experience as much as possible.

Why aren’t the venues listed for some of the shows I want to see?

The venues are determined by how many people show interest in a particular act. Once we have enough show interest from pass holders, we’ll be able to place them into an appropriate (awesome) venue at an appropriate (for stellar comedy, anytime is appropriate time) time.

Help! I purchased a VIP pass but I can’t select my headliners on Ticketmaster.

Congrats on purchasing your VIP pass- you’re in for a jam packed festival.  After purchasing your VIP pass, you will need to send an email to and they will send you further instruction on information you need to provide in order to book your 4 headliner shows.

Is your festival Wheelchair accessible?

All of our venues are wheelchair accessible with the exception of Comedy Bar (both the main space and the cabaret), Bad Dog Comedy Theatre and Yuk Yuk’s. Please note that Royal Cinema itself is wheelchair accessible, however their restrooms are not.

When will the other shows be announced?

Keep your shirt on! Or don’t. From now until the end of the Festival, we’ll keep adding more shows and even moving some to bigger venues! We’re continually announcing cool things. To keep in the loop, make sure you follow the action on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and of course, right here on our website.

What if I can’t make it to a show?

You can easily cancel your reservation up to 2hrs before a show but after that, you will no longer be able to cancel your reservation. To do so, go to your profile on the APP to access your reserved shows, or the MYJFL42 section of the website, hit “cancel” on the appropriate showtime and your credit will be returned to your account.  After that time period is up, you’ve committed a credit and if you do not attend the show you’ve reserved to, your credit will be lost permanently.

So if I don’t have a smart phone, I can’t participate?

First, we would recommend that you join the 21st century (owning a pager does not qualify). If you insist on resisting progress, we’ll throw you a bone. After buying your pass online, a printable Ticketfast email will be sent to you for headlining act. And, if you wish, you can print the barcode associated with your pass and have it scanned at any of the other 42 things. It has to be said, however, that for the fullest festival experience, a smart phone is the way to go.

I’m ready to buy a JFL42 pass, but I’m confused on how to do it — help?

We’re always here to help! We love helping! You can always contact, but first check out our “Discover JFL42” for a step-by-step on how to navigate all the hilarious fun!

Can I loan my pass out to my cousin Bob for the night?

You cannot loan your pass out to your cousin Bob, or anyone else for that matter. Once you activate your JFL42 pass, it becomes yours and yours alone — unique and individual, just like you! Your identity will be associated to the barcode on your pass. Barcodes will be scanned at each venue and ID will be checked. Serious stuff!

Can I buy a pass for someone else?

Yes! And might we add—what a generous spirited person you are! Of course you can buy a JFL42 pass for someone else. Purchase as many passes as you want for as many of your friends and use Ticketmaster’s ticket TRANSFER to send them their pass.

Here’s how:
1. Go to and sign in and like magic, your Headliner Show/Pass will appear!
2. Click the gray Transfer button and fill out the form with the information of the lucky person who’ll receive the pass.
3. After you transfer the pass, sign out of your Ticketmaster Account.
4. The fortunate person you transferred the pass to will receive an email instructing them to accept the Ticket Transfer Invite.
5. Shortly after they accept the transfer, they will be sent an activation link email from JFL42.
6. Still have questions? Go to

Do I have to reserve the ComedyCon shows with my credits, or can I just show up?

Yes, you must reserve! These are HOT TICKET events and there are only so many seats available. Use your credits to reserve to the events you want to see.

Are there different credits for ComedyCon and regular stand-up comedy shows?

Nope, same credits. All passes come with credits that you can use for both the ComedyCon and any of the “42”
